The Polytechnic University of Yucatán (UPY) was recognized with the National Cybersecurity Award 2025 for its academic model, projects in the Maya language, and partnerships with leading technology companies.
The Polytechnic University of Yucatán (UPY) was distinguished with the National Cybersecurity Award 2025, awarded by the Mexico Cybersecure Alliance, in the category Talent Development and Professionalization. This recognition consolidates it as one of the leading institutions in the training of professionals in digital security in the country.
The rector of UPY, Aarón Rosado Castillo, received the award from Luis Miguel Dena, advisor of the Mexico Cybersecure Alliance, and from Eduardo de la Vega Segura, co-chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Second National Cybersecurity Forum.
The award values the impact of its academic model, research projects with cultural relevance —including developments in the Maya language—, as well as partnerships with world-class technology companies such as Google, Fortinet, Thales, Huawei, Cisco, AWS, Hikvision, and Intel.
A standout point was the work of the National Cyberintelligence and Cyberresilience Laboratory of Latin America, equipped with cutting-edge technology and considered a key center for innovation in digital security.
Additionally, the jury highlighted the incorporation of the mixed modality in the Cybersecurity degree (60% virtual and 40% in-person) and the role of UPY as a training institution for teachers in this specialty.
This recognition reaffirms Yucatán's commitment to the technological modernization and the protection of digital infrastructure, as well as to the training of young professionals capable of facing the challenges of the digital age and strengthening Mexico's technological sovereignty.
